The Massachusetts Archaeological Society (MAS) and the Taunton River Watershed Alliance (TRWA) are back together for an Archaeological paddle in the watershed: a canoe/kayak tour featuring the Taunton River and its tributaries.

Once again, our river guide will be Dr. Curtiss Hoffman, past president of MAS. Dr. Hoffman is an activist supporting the rich historical values in the watershed. A Bridgewater State University anthropology professor, he recently contributed to the important discussion among developers, regional lawmakers, and the State Historical Commission debating the ability of a medical software company to expand on archeologically sensitive land located on the South Coast. This year we will explore the Town River: the Bridgewater and West Bridgewater headwater of the Taunton River. We will forward details as soon as available; we still need to finalize locations based on stream flow conditions.

Remember to bring an extra oar and to wear a personal flotation device!
